Slow to Notice

Yet again, despite my disbelief in horoscopes (though profound belief in the value of looking up at the stars), there’s an eerie convergence of my life and the one person’s horoscope writing I trust, at least for its therapeutic aid: “Don’t be afraid to stop if you need to. Sometimes slowing all the way down helps us find the fastest track to our healing.”

Oh but I am, on both counts. Not sure it‘s working — my writing during this “writer’s retreat” feels stuck, and I’m not so good sometimes at keeping fear at bay — but I’m definitely like moss growing on a stone, or here in Montreal, vines growing on a bike. Or perhaps I’m just the stone right now — quietly noticing the little things, which may in fact be the big ones.
